I can not understand how to make these tie-in covers on my couch!?

2 pieces of rope of 5 cushions??? This is nonsense. I'm thinking of cover a sofa and love seat, there are 5 pieces of fabric elastic'ed medium and 2 large flat plates. There are also 2 "blanket" rubber bands. I realized how to put together, but I can not for the life of me an idea of how 2 pieces of string hell is supposed to achieve all this on the couch … Any help would be appreciated!
